This edited book consists of eleven articles that appeared recently (from the late nineties onwards) in reputable international refereed journals such as the "International journal of the sociology of language" (one article), "Journal of multilingual and multicultural development" (three articles), "International journal of applied linguistics" (three articles), "International journal of bilingual education and bilingualism" (one article) and "Journal of mediterranean studies" (one article). The book also includes a comprehensive annotated bibliography, prepared and compiled by the present editor, of over one hundred and forty (140) studies dealing with various aspects of the sociolinguistics of Cyprus that appeared in local and international journals, books, published documents, conference proceedings, selected papers, master s theses and doctoral dissertations.
