This is the story of Dr. Nicholas Manousos, the son of a very poor family, born in Anoghia in 1896. His lifelong aim in all respects was to look after his fellow citizens of Anoghia, as well as the population of other neighboring villages on the slopes of Mount Ida. His efforts together with the political and social conditions of Crete before and after the Second World War are all very successfully brought to life in this book by his son Dr. Orestes Manousos.
